A place for (hopefully) honest debate about what happened on 9/11/01. No flaming, no ad hominems, keep it cool.

On the DCF thread, we had a structural engineer stop in and explain that it is, in fact, possible for the buildings to collapse via the steel beams warping in the fires. I'm not educated enough on the topic to debate this point, but I'd love to see someone in the field take a look at it.

Other points to consider:
- the complete, footprint collapse of WTC 7 - about a block away from the 2 towers, and several hours later.
- the footprint, freefall demolition pattern of the two tower collapses.
- eyewitness reports of explosions in the basements and lower floors of the towers
- the fact that NORAD was, at that very moment, conducting an exercise concerning hijacked airliners, which caused a massive delay in response.
- the government dismissing multiple reports that 'something big' was coming that week
- the clear ties between the Bin Laden family and then-president Bush
- the almost-immediate passage of DHS, NSA, and the Prism program, under the so-called "Patriot Act". Were they put in place ahead of time?
- the big society of Architects (forgot the name) which declined to even look at the evidence or investigate
- 9/11 Commission massive redactions and classified results

Discuss like adults.

A few thoughts..

Why would they mess around with hijacking 4 planes if they were going to drop the buildings with explosives. Wouldn't it have been easier/less risky to just use the explosives and then blame it on Bin laden/Saddam, or whoever?

So, GCF decided to resurrect this concept from the cold dead body of the DCF.

Second, yes burning jet fuel can melt steel beams.

Third, if the government used explosives then why would they "hire" 19 people to pose as plane highjackers? Our government is one of the least creative people on the planet, if they planted explosives then it would've been much easier to say that it was a bombing and not planes crashing into buildings.
