Secretary of State Pick
Rumor has it it's going to be the CEO of Exxon.

He clearly excels at making deals and has professed his belief in climate change, but has close ties with Russia and no experience at statesmanship without a profit motive. Thoughts? Who do you think should be Secretary of State?

Re: Secretary of State Pick
My thoughts are what experience does he have that makes him a good pick for Secretary of State? Is it because he is a businessman who has negotiated thousands of multinational deals somehow make him a good candidate for the position? How would he be able to handle a situation like where Russia "took" Crimea, or China's actions in the South China Sea, etc...? I mean what is going to be the policy of this White House and what makes him (other than a loyal Trump supporter) a good candidate?mydogjesse wrote:Rumor has it it's going to be the CEO of Exxon.

Plus, I really don't like how he has millions tied into his business and the possible conflict of interests that could crop up during his time in this position.

I read he plans to divest if appointed. He's said to be a strong leader but not an alliance-builder.

Personally, I just feel like it's so obvious that he has only appointed his band of "yes men" to top positions and also the "old guard" of the RNC- hence the swamp isn't being drain but being filled to new levels.

So, wait, the American government is going to be run by military Generals and corporate CEO's?
Shocking.

Powell and Cheney are very disappointed.

Pretty sure Colin Powell doesn't like Donald Trump. Nor the Navy.

So as an outsider, who do you think would be a good Secretary of State pick?

Who, me? Well, If I was President, I probably would have gone with Admiral James Stavridis, but he's not a Trump guy.mydogjesse wrote:So as an outsider, who do you think would be a good Secretary of State pick?
