You Want to Drug Test Welfare Recipients?

Those are the only valid reasons for penalties.

p.s. The other reason for penalties is as revenue generators but for people on welfare that seems unlikely.

Who was it that I was talking to about this? Someone I was talking to recently told me about the rules for welfare in another country where your home is inspected to see if you're living above the line for a welfare recipient. Can't remember who it was.

Drug testing is a deterrence for fucking up and losing your job. Welfare is typically treated like a job where you have to work for a government office for four hours a month punching holes in paper while proving you're looking for work. That was my experience at least. I guess gas mileage varies.

Not for disability or retirement. For actual welfare; i.e a person who claims they are so poor, they need state assistance to feed their kids. If some single parent needs food assistance, and they spend like fifty dollars per week on weed, then, Houston, we've got a fucking problem.

Law is the law, if you're at the mercy of the man you can't argue if the man has a beef with your life.

But I would be very cool with lawmakers being drug tested. Sure a lot of weed would show up on the left side of things, but I'm genuinely curious to see if its all just viagra and vitamin supplements on the right.

Drug testing in general is a complete waste of energy. A holdover from our Puritan ancestors.

Doing it to welfare recipients is even stupider. It's an effort to remove agency from fellow citizens because they're too poor to achieve full citizenship rights. The entire concept is ridiculous and un-American. Do you expect your neighbors and friends to be randomly drug tested? Would this not violate the final shreds of the 4th Amendment?
