There's actually impressive castles (or basically forts) in the New Continent also.

This one is from Haiti:

This one in Pennsylvania is much more like it,

or this effort in New York

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Perhaps people don't know it, but even the US has some genuine 17th Century fortifications. In the purest form of Vaubanesque star forts:

Castillo de San Marcos, St. Augustine, Florida:

Half of us are native Floridians. We know it well.

Well, maybe not those Gulf coast faggots. Their city was settled by gay pirates.

Of course Canada has a far more grander fortification: Citadelle of Quebec. What makes La Citadelle remarkable that it's still an active military installation and in official use. But Commonwealth countries respect traditions. It's allways nice when some old fortification is still a place of the armed services, even if just for formal occasions, and not used only reenactors with the National Park Service (or similar administration) taking care of it.

Traditions. Like firing a cannon at noon.
