A study I just read put in the the single digit percentage chance of cheating happening.

Doubtful. You have to realize a lot of these social science researchers are activist researches as well. The best-case cuckoldry rate is as high as 7%, but much much higher depending upon social class. If 7% of our children are the product of female infidelity, no way no how is their infidelity in general locked in the single digits, especially with birth control options available to them. You are being played here. Some research puts the cuckoldry rate MUCH higher, and family court data of women defrauding men with false paternity seems to bear this out.

Like I said.. if our females weren't pre-wired for cheating, then they wouldn't hide their estrus.

Human females evolved under completely different environmental and social pressures. I suggest reading a book titled The Moral Animal. The author goes into detail about both male and female infidelity.

A lot of this might stem from our technically being in transition between a tournament and a pair-bonded species. We have elements of both.
