The turkish government has called the dutch government remants of nazi's, a banana republic and accused us of genocide in bosnia during the civil war. After the bosnia genocide accusation the dutch government said that this is so ludicrous it's not even worth a response.

Alot of the foreign press all call this a victory over the forces of populisme that the dutch are turning the tide. But honestly if look at the election results the Left wing parties were crushed.

The Pvda (labour party) lost 29 zetels the main politcal enemy of Geert Wilders. The other left wing parties and D66 (Liberal-social center party) are against Geert Wilders but his influence has pulled the VVD and the CDA more to his position on multiculturalism.

They were a part of the ruling coalition with VVD and parties in ruling coalitions usually don't do well in the next elections. And the Pvda just didn't forfill alot of there promises. Alot of voters were dissatisfied with the preformance of the Pvda some felt betrayed and don't even consider it a left wing party anymore. My guess is that Mark Rutte (VVD party leader) is a very tough negotiator and the economic crisis cut alot of spending in areas which hurt left wing voters the most. And the shifting opions on immigration and multiculturalism didn't help either.
