Do you think you'd miss discussing how much you won't miss it for even a second?

The World Cup is a poor imitation of the Canada Cup, it's gimmick filled money grab, it is not a proper replacement. Would a real best on best national team tourny, please stand up.
All I care about is hockey related revenue, all these tournaments are gimmicky, if they help boost the salary cap, I'm all for it, if the money grab is going to the IOC cutting the NHL salary cap out of the deal, then I'm out, and I won't miss it, not even for a second.
All I care about is good hockey, fuck the revenue, that's icing on the cake, not the cake itself. Neutered Team Canada and Team USA, is not best on best national teams, it's just not.

In terms of revenue generated, the only non American sport which is ahead of the NHL, is the English Premiership, but other than that, the NHL is bigger than every other Eurosports league, including Formula One.

Cricket doesn't even make the list.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_p ... by_revenue
Of the 75 top leagues in order of revenue 2 are ice hockey and 47 are soccer leagues.
So American sports are insanely expensive to watch but far less popular. Not really sure how revenue generated relates to the quality of a sport but you go ahead and find a metric whereby your minority sport is important I wouldn't want you feeling any more inadequate.
In terms of body armour worn to avoid ouchies ice hockey and American football are probably at the top of the list too.
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Money talks and bullshit walks, there's one soccer league which makes more money than the NHL, and not even by that much, it goes NFL, MLB, NBA, EPL, NHL, that is the rankings, what is popular is determined by the market, and the market says the NHL is at the very top of the heap, Rugby is way down the list, Cricket is nowhere to be seen.

That's what I am trying to tell you guys. These sports are really designed to be spectator sports. They are the contemporary versions of Roman arena games. Pretty soon, America will legalize drugs too to serve as the contemporary analog to bread in bread and circus. Bet that.

Soccer is a game you can pretty much play anywhere. I don't know much about the soccer culture over there, but from what I have seen, most soccer hooligans actually play the fucking sport. That's not how NFL works at all. These people are mostly spectators. They watch sports like a TFL guy watches porn.

When is the last time you won the World Cup again? Oh, that's right, that was the year before the Leafs won their last Stanley Cup, you don't win, even at popular sports, don't kid yourself.
Rugby world cup winners, cricket world cup winners, football world cup winners, you know - sports the world plays not just a handfull of frozen wastelands.
Remind me the last time Canada won the world cup. (''the'' world cup not ''a'' world cup)

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a more recent Stanley Cup than your last World Cup victory, and you're bragging about it?

Never mind that if we're talking all time, the Leafs have 13 Stanley Cups, how many FIFA World Cups has England won?

1966 is their only World Cup victory. They like to think they are good at soccer, but they actually suck balls.
