Maybe the coroner was sick of cleaning up after shitty parents mistakes. If I feel bad for anyone it's that guy.
She left home at 16 to live with her dodgy boyfriend. She'd recently left him and was getting her shit together.
The dodgy boyfriend turned up on my doorstep a couple of weeks later wanting to quiz me about what had happened.
If anyone was to blame it was him for getting her into shitty drugs like sleeping pills.
I would have squared up on the spot, win or lose.

I lived pretty recklessly meself when I was young.

There but by the grace of God, and just being a big strong lad, go I.

I've had a few doctors tell me I was lucky to be alive back in the day.

Frankly I'm living pretty recklessly right now.

Drinking Kentucky Straight bourbon neat with beer chasers and smoking Pall Malls.

Mind you, if I die tonight, I've lived a good life, always sad to see a young girl cut down before she ever could.

Unless she was a commie that is, in which case she can burn in Hell.

I am just saying. If right now I went through what Monte just described, and the degenerate ex-boyfriend that hooked her on sleeping pills of all things came to my door to interrogate me like that, I really don't care if he's a God damned giant that can crush me, I am still squaring up.

I lift with cops almost every day. I know what they would say when they came to arrest me. "sometimes you just have to get arrested, dude".

Not worth it for a one night stand, if you're going to jail, reserve that for your wife.

It's not like Monty wasn't taking advantage too, he wasn't gonna put a ring on it.

Monty was shoplifting the pootie.

I mean, at the end of the day, the girl died on Monty's watch, maybe the ex-boyfriend had a case.

Monty says he was a degenerate, maybe he was, maybe he wasn't, maybe Monty is scapegoating for all I know.

Monty is a fuckin' degenerate as far as I know, it's his date, she was under his protection when she died.

Maybe the ex-boyfriend knew her better, knew to keep an eye on her, knew about her proclivities.

Sounds cheap to dump it on him when he wasn't there, couldn't have done anything about it, didn't even know.

It's like if a troop dies on my watch, that's on me, I can't dump that on another NCO.

Like, if you were the girls brother, who are squaring up with?

The guy who wasn't there, or the guy whose bed she was in when she died?

Driver should have driven to the nearest lake and dumped the bodies. I read one report which said he feinted when he discovered them. He knew he was in the shit. An innocent man wouldn't have feinted.
HAHA! Is that right? How many times have you seen one dead body let alone 39? So quick to condemn the white guy. What if he was holding an ax when he feinted, Monty?
I woke up next to a body one time. She had choked on her vomit during the night. Wasn't very nice but I didn't feint.
Was the last time I had a one night stand though.
That is from Breaking bad, you never had sex with a grown woman.

There's lots of blame to go around when 16 yo females are boozing and giving it up on the first date. Why was she under the impression that's acceptable behavior? Why does she value her womanhood so little?
Not sure that you are in any position to judge anyone else on their drug abuse.
As for putting out on the first date, so what?
You wouldn't criticise a bloke for doing the same.
At 18 she was old enough to make up her own mind.

I did date an 18 year old when I was in my 20's.

I was 23 and she was 18 when I first asked her out, and she was a virgin.

I think it was like October when I first asked her out on a date, but we didn't have sex until Christmas Day.

Christmas leave, everybody in the battalion was gone home, I stayed behind to be with her.

We just set up in the empty barracks, we had it all to ourselves.

First I had to date her for awhile, meet her parents and whatnot, get vetted by the family

Had to prove I was serious, that I was worth being her first time.

It was good though, turned out to be my long term girlfriend, the last one before I met my future wife.

It wasn't really like that. He just wanted to know. I let him in and told him. He wasn't aggressive about it. Besides, he was a skinny junkie and I was still super fit from my rugby and competitive swimming at that age. I didn't feel threatened at all and I had two housemates who were both bigger and fitter than me who had my back.
Can't blame him for needing to know. He was only there for a few minutes.

The cops were pretty good with me. They ignored the pot plant growing in my bedroom and didn't have me down at the station for too long.
