Academics generally do know more than everyone else, and thinking that every academic has the same political views about government is you showing some utterly asinine levels of ignorance. An academic is simply someone who has gotten their education at an "academy" (college or university). That some leftists exist in academia, doesn't turn academia into "leftism" anymore than a majority of conservative voters among steel mill workers turn steelworking into a "conservative" profession. Academia is infested with leftists, to deny that is asinine. The few non-leftists there is are drowned out by the infestation actively trying to convert them and threatening their careers if they don't tow the far-left party line.
