I mean, I'm an Ulster Man, Scots-Irish Orangeman, this is the story of my people...

... some German shows up and says "but ve are ze Protestant, ja?"

GTFO. *thwack* <splits German head open with axe handle>

Where my Scots-Irish family is from, if you have a German last name, they still call you a "Kraut" to this very day.

The majority were Protestants since most Germans were Protestants. The rest were mostly Catholic and a few were Jewish.

Most of the immigrants from Germany were Catholics. The Protestants mostly remained in Europe.

Germany is not a Protestant country. It's mixed.

You still don't get it, Bimbo, Protestant was not a shield from the Scots-Irish Know Nothings, so you weren't a Papist, that didn't mean they wanted your Kraut ass in the New Jerusalem with God's Chosen People, German Protestants were just as degenerate as German Catholics, American Protestants who didn't take the Good News of the Great Awakening might as well been Papists for all intents and purposes, and the Know Nothings never stopped to ask the Foreign Devils what their religion was anyways, Foreign Devil is a Foreign Devil, doesn't matter if you're not a Papist.

You could be a Chinese Protestant, doesn't negate the fact that you're a Chinaman, same-same with the Germans, the Scots-Irish hated them with a passion, they hated all immigrants with a passion, you could be a Protestant from England, but if you didn't take the Good News of the Great Awakening, you were still a degenerate foreigner despoiling the Holy Land.

The Scots-Irish of America are puritanical, Protestant doesn't buy you anything, plenty of Protestants fail to live up to the standards of the Temperance Lady, who knew?

The mere fact that the Germans made and drank beer in copious amounts, was sufficient for the Temperance Lady to declare them a dire threat to American Family Values, beer might as well been heroin for all intents and purposes, in fact, to the Temperance Lady, beer was worse than heroin, she was all about the Saloons, she didn't pay much attention to the Chinaman's opium dens, altho she wanted the Chinamen out too, just for being Chinamen.

Bear in mind, the Scots-Irish who were sent to America from Britain, were driven out, and not by the Papists, by the Protestants, the Papists were defeated, but Britain needed to have some modicum of peace with them, the Scots-Irish who would not make peace, were the ones who were sent to America, they were the extremists, like a Protestant Taliban.

Yankees were the Puritans. Scots-Irish were mostly Presbyterians (which later became Baptists).

The Know Nothings were centered in the Mid-West, the Scots Irish of Dixie had a different agenda, Dixie wasn't so much into Temperance, the Southrons were not the Temperance Ladies, they wanted to keep the black man down, no whiskey for the niggers, but other than that they weren't teetotalers.

Dixie weren't Scots-Irish. Those were the descendants of the Cavaliers who lost the civil war. They were all Anglican (later Episcopalian). They came from English stock, though they had Irish slaves for a while before people started importing Africans. A lot of their Irish were actually descended from Catholics who came over as slaves very early in colonization. Appalachians were Scots-Irish. Definitely not cool with Catholicism back then.
