It probably has something to do with that not being real socialism.C-Mag wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 8:36 amZlaxer wrote: ↑Fri May 18, 2018 5:14 amhttps://www.wsj.com/articles/pressure-c ... 1526635801
As usual, women fucking shit up...
Too bad - would have been good for the people if the Mil took over....All of these factors fueled the March coup plan.
Several armored battalions were to secure the capital while special forces in a nighttime raid planned to snatch top officials including Mr. Maduro and Vice President Tareck el-Aissami and fly them out of the country.
But as the final stages approached, a female army lieutenant loyal to the government learned of the plot and alerted her superiors.
I'm constantly amazed at how long this has gone on with Maduro retaining power.

Wow...what a fucking mess.....President Nicolás Maduro late Thursday briefly outlined his monetary rescue plan. In a country where a dozen eggs can cost 250,000 bolivars ($5) amid worsening inflation, he would chop three zeros off the currency — arguably bringing the price for those eggs down to 250.
Why don't they just legislate in a "liveable wage" and "Gender Neutral pay".....

This is why economic distortion is such a problem. Maybe people will start to realize that, at last...The Conservative wrote: ↑Thu Jun 28, 2018 9:44 amFarm fresh eggs cost $6 here.Zlaxer wrote: ↑Tue Mar 27, 2018 4:17 amhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wor ... 2b5d73cdd1

As TC pointed out, eggs are 'only $6 here in the US'. That carries with it the assumption that a worker makes at least $10/hr. However, in Venezuela, people make $1.45/month. They have millions of Venezuelan dollars, but that's only worth a few US dollars.
It's insidious because people always assume an equal value of money, across the world. We hear that 'people in Africa live on a dollar a day', but they instinctively assume that there's just no money there. The fact is, they get huge amounts of "money", with no actual value.
Venezuela is failing because they pinned their entire economy on a single industry - oil exports. They borrowed heavily against it, and leveraged to the point that a small change in the price of oil destroyed everything. They're printing money like the Weimar Republic to pay their debts, but destroying the value of the currency.
It's the same thing that we're doing here, but we're still propped up for the time being.
