Just like point of sale markup is not the same as profit, living paycheck to paycheck is not the same as poverty.

Nobody here is saying that. What we are saying is that it's harder to build up savings vs the past and it's getting harder and harder every year. The whole point of the article is that Americans 20 years ago lived good and were as a whole able to save money. Now 18 years of stagnant wages and constant increase in living costs is putting a giant squeeze on the middle class. WTF don't you get Okee?

Zomg! It's harder to get by than it used to be. One man with a job in a mill used to be able to support a family of five and take a vacation today, but not anymore!

Newsflash, folks. That's been the general direction for a long long time. If you can't increase your income, then find ways to spend less, because that trend shows no sign of turning around.

Not actually the case, in fact, Boomers didn't move up in the ranks for a long time, in this mythical age of Milk and Honey for the young Boomers, they were actually peons who simply fetched coffee for their Greatest Generation bosses.
