Not that it's relevant, but it's damned difficult (if not impossible) to spend $50/week on weed. You'd need to be taking a hit every other minute, 24/7, to accomplish that.

I am arguing that they would be spending that money on drugs with or without ebt, because they have a drug problem. So, leave things as they are, take the ebt away, or provide help to combat addiction with the hope that eventually leads to someone making their own money to feed their kids.Speaker to Animals wrote:Hanarchy Montanarchy wrote:Read your own posts short bus. Maybe you just mistyped and meant 50 per week, but the cost of weed is not the issue.Speaker to Animals wrote:No, 50 per week is about 200 per month. Do I need to do the math for you in the forum?
EBT awards are about 200 dollars per month and up, depending upon circumstances and the state. People are currently spending about 80 dollars per quarter ounce of weed, and I have personally seen single mothers burn through that each week. Then they take their EBT cards to Walmart to get their kids enough food to eat. It's really quite shocking.
It is the issue. The weed habits that I have personally witnessed easily cost more than the monthly EBT award these people received.
You literally are defending taking money from taxpayers to give to people so they can feed their children while maintaining a drug habit. Think about that shit for moment.
HAIL!
Her needs America so they won't just take his shit away like in some pussy non gun totting countries can happen.

Nah, I can definitely vouch for the pricing. It's not as hard as you think.Kath wrote:Not that it's relevant, but it's damned difficult (if not impossible) to spend $50/week on weed. You'd need to be taking a hit every other minute, 24/7, to accomplish that.
Damned near impossible to do much else, but it's not hard to smoke that much.

It's easy as hell to spend 50 bucks per week on weed. That's only like a quarter of an ounce per week. Not really even that much these days.

Pfft. .I've been smoking pot for 30 years. The good stuff is currently running $180/half oz. That last us 2-3 months and we smoke every day. That's for two of us. $200 = half ounce every month? No... just no.GrumpyCatFace wrote:

$50/week is an expensive habit but I've met people that spend that much and manage to maintain great-paying non-dealer jobs. People into dabs and comparing all these top shelf strains are definitely capable of spending $50 a week. Seems like a waste of money to me and the result of building up a huge tolerance.Kath wrote:Not that it's relevant, but it's damned difficult (if not impossible) to spend $50/week on weed. That is more my speed. I'll stereotype though and say that people on welfare are spending more by buying in small amounts and some might not have the financial skills to plan ahead, buy in bulk, and make something last instead of buying and using impulsively.Kath wrote:Pfft. .I've been smoking pot for 30 years. edit: not that I'm arguing that welfare recipients are spending 50/week. I have no idea what the average would be and don't care. I'd like to see welfare for the poor and for corporations be reduced. It's not a binary either-or decision.

Re: You Want to Drug Test Welfare Recipients?
You guys are talking about extreme outliers. the average pot smoker is not spending $200/month on pot. And, please SHOW actual EVIDENCE that most welfare recipients are doing drugs. Show how it saves us money to test all drug users... because results indicate it's a fraction of a fraction of welfare recipients using drugs.
And, it still doesn't address the giant elephant of corporate welfare. We give welfare to billionaires but we worry about someone without food getting some food stamps.

Demanding that we show "evidence" is ridiculous when you take the side of the argument that resists collecting the evidence in the first place.

No Kath, you've got it all wrong. It's only the Stupid Lefties that are being suckered in by the MSM, not like the brave and noble Guardians of The Budget.Kath wrote:You guys are talking about extreme outliers. the average pot smoker is not spending $200/month on pot.
