I’ve got a touching story about “Simple Man.” It’s one of my favorite songs and I used to play it all the time at home when the kids were young. When my youngest son, the one who lives in Lima, left university, it was a traumatic experience. (When the time comes to trade liberty for life, he’s going to die too.) I went to pick his car up for him, and when I turned on the radio/cassette player, he had inserted a cassette queued to “Simple Man.” I knew it was for me; he’s like that.

It's a powerful thing to be loved like that. My daughter brought me a cream soda the other day, telling me that she had a surprise for me. She was so excited to get me something to show me how much she loved me.
