It's going to be more like this.

That is basically what is happening to us right now. We are at the jackal stage now.

London murder rate overtakes New York for first time ever after spate of fatal stabbings and shootings

London has overtaken New York City’s murder rate for the first time in contemporary history as the capital has been overwhelmed with a spate of stabbings.
According to a new report, February was the first month the UK capital was home to more murders than the US city.
London has endured a significant increase in knife crime, with 15 dying in February, nine of whom were aged 30 or younger.

Well, it's a bit fear mongering to run a piece on how London is such a dangerous place. When it's in fact New York that has gotten a lot safer. The murder rate in London has dropped slightly for the last twenty years, but New York's murder rate has dropped even more.

Of course large cities has a higher murder rate than surrounding areas, but this is true for pretty much every western nation. London has a pretty low murder rate for a capital city. Around 2 per 100 000. That's pretty much the murder rate of Belgium. I haven't done the math on it, but the increase might not be statistically significant, since the amount was pretty low already, so random fluctuation can give the impression that it has increased, when it's really just what can be expected in a normal distribution.

Violent crime has increased too. And that's something that is statistically significant. However, it's different from homicide, as the definition of "violent crime" changes all the time, or it could just be that people are more prone to reporting incidents of violent crime to the police now.

I wouldn't really worry about getting murdered in London. It's twice as likely to get killed there than the national average of UK. And twice as likely to get killed there than Oslo, which also has a murder rate double the national average. But double a very very small number, is still a very small number.

Yes but......if we ignore the facts we can make this all about immigrants. What's wrong with you Otern? Why do you hate western culture?
For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

And now we're onto why crime statistics are almost impossible to discuss with anyone. It's either "immigration is the source of this", or it's "immigration has nothing to do with an increase in crime".

The truth lies somewhere in the middle. Non-western immigrants are overrepresented on crime statistics. This is fact. But they're also living in dense areas, large cities, which has always been areas where violent crime is higher than the national average. Is the violent crime in cities high because there's a higher amount of immigrants there, or is immigrant crime higher, because more of them live in cities? There's no definitive answer, but it's probably somewhere in between. Non western immigrants are more prone to crime, AND they live in socioeconomic conditions that makes them more prone to crime.

Who said immigrants in this thread or this subsection of it? I was more speaking to your advocating for the abolishing of the US 2nd amendment, in the name of safety.

Immigration policies are a whole other kettle of fish which are, thankfully, currently playing out afar from US. Good luck with that. #ACMEproducts

Really? Where have I pushed for the abolition of the 2nd?
Calling for tighter regulations does not equal abolition.
Would gang warfare in London be better or worse if they all had easy access to handguns?
Is a gun more or less deadly than a knife?
What point are you flailing about trying to make?

Haven't people noticed the reason for this? The answer is this positive news:
New York City Murder Rate on Pace to Drop to 1950s Levels

(Wall Street Journal, 27.12.2017)New York City is on track to close the year with the fewest murders since Elvis Presley appeared on “The Ed Sullivan Show.”

The New York Police Department has recorded 284 murders so far in 2017, putting the city on pace to finish the year with fewer than 300 murders for the first time since the 1950s. Murders in 2017 are down from 329 at the same point last year and 2,245 in 1990—the highest recorded number of murders by the NYPD.

Officials have credited the decline to the department’s data-driven approach of targeting the worst offenders in the city, centered on the crime-tracking system known as CompStat, as well as improved community relations and better utilization of technology. The NYPD also has the most officers of any department in the U.S., with 36,000 members.

“I’ve been going to CompStat since 1996 and to have a year like we had last year in 2016 was pretty amazing,” NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill said at a crime-statistics briefing earlier this month. “What we’re doing this year—continuing that trend and making those decreases go even deeper—is really nothing short of amazing.”

Overall major crime, which includes murders, rape, robbery, felony assaults, burglary, grand larceny and grand larceny of vehicles, so far this year is on pace to finish under 100,000—also the lowest since the 1950s, according to crime data updated on Sunday. Police have recorded 94,806 major felonies so far this year—a little more than half of the roughly 184,000 in 2000.
