It appears, at least here in Florida, the DNC is trying to flip the script on who is the socialist.
A new TV and claims Trump is fostering the socialist policies for healthcare through Medicare cuts. It ends with "Democrats don't have to enact socialist healthcare because Trump is doing it for them."

So not only is OMB but now HE is the evil socialist, not them.

Pretty much proves how unpopular Socialism is outside of the University setting.

Socialism is popular among those who mold culture. Hollywood, News Media, etc.

It's more personal than that: art is not held in as high regard as business, and they desperately want to be. In reality, socialism is good for artists; they are held in high esteem, they are given money, and socialist meritocracy is subjective like art.

p.s. I worked with artists for decades; you want to know who the egalitarians are, start there.

Most of the greatest works of European art were either commissioned by aristocrats or the church - markets were not really part of the process, and to the extent that they were, they benefited impresarios and the like, not the artists.

Remember, the market found Bach's music to be less valuable than the paper it was written on, and it was sold off by weight to fish markets after his death.

It isn't egalitarianism that drives artists towards socialism. It is a deep elitism, and suspicion of public opinion as expressed in consumer choice.

That’s true; they don’t want equality, they think they’re superior.

I’ve had many artists denigrate my ability to write art computer programs as me just providing the pencil for them. The irony was that I wrote those programs for my own artistic ambitions, but when I pursued them I was denigrated as a computer programmer trying to be an artist. I learned to fucking hate anyone who called themselves an artist, and wouldn’t admit I’d did all those programs so I could do my own art without that stone around my neck.

It is absolutely in support of elitism.

There is a reason you don't get a lot of innovation in top 40 pop hits, and it isn't that the people producing it are bad at music, or have bad taste.
