There again you are insinuating that the French government is lying when in fact they are saying they don't know. You are assuming they must be covering something up simply because they are admitting their ignorance.

I was speaking more to the general point that governments shouldn’t be able to do that. Your hypothesis seems to indicate support for the idea.

No, I don't think governments should be able to lie to us.
I've written plenty about Boris's penchant for fibbing. I just don't think there's any evidence that this is what is happening over Notre Dame.
There's certainly not been any evidence released that there was foul play.
Whatever you speculate in order to fill the information vacuum is only speculation without supporting evidence.

The cool thing about it was that the Mrs was open minded

She just didn't want a church wedding : atheist

She was up for a military wedding, but she didn't want a standard issue one

So I brought it all together at the nexus of everything

Which sent me here to live out the rest of days with this girl

Jumped ship at Halifax Harbor

And here I am now, all these years later

So I told all this to the Mrs

And then she was down

The fortress is open to the public, but you need to get permission to hold a ceremony there, so I pulled strings

For dinner afterwards, and the honeymoon suite, it was the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac

That reminds me of Charles fort in Kinsale Ireland. I visited it when I was on my way back from catering the European Juggling Convention.
Late 17th century, the site of John Churchill's first successful military command when he besieged it. I'm guessing Quebec is slightly younger.

I wanted an immediate action honeymoon

Mrs entered this contest in Now Magazine in the 6ix, to win a Five Star all inclusive to Puerto Plata

And she won it : "I gotta horseshoe up my sweet ass !" she likes to crow,

and its tru, she's my lucky charm, I let her buy lottery tickets, because she might actually win

But I wanted a romantic honeymoon with historic meaning and art, you philistines

And it delivered, SFR 9000 to melt even a Vulcan girls heart, it was lovey dovey off the charts

Same as it is right now, second honeymoon

We did mac it in the Domican tho, that was P Diddy style, all inclusive with our own guest house suite

Came with robes like P Diddy, so we walked around all over, in our bathing suits and robes

Anywhere we went we had food & drink, 5 star, for free

The CEO of the Toronto Blue Jays was in the other guest house suite next door

I just watched the Citadel vid. Much bigger affair than Charles Fort.
Same purpose, defending the Port.
The mistake with Charles fort was that it was overlooked by higher ground so John Churchill was able to drag some guns up there and bombard it.
Not a problem with the Citadel by the look of it.

I've never been much of a one for 5 star pampering. My kinda holiday is more wandering around a country with a backpack looking at old shit.
I wouldn't turn it down as a freebie, obviously, but I'd never spend that much money on it.
