Depends on the situation. If my kids are on the line, you'll see a pile of dead bodies around me, before I go down.

If it's for "freedumb", or some flag-waving nonsense, I'm a trail of dust.

Doesn't work that way, you have to prepare for that eventuality, it requires muscle memory, you have to train for it, condition yourself to it, it takes repetition, repetition, repetition, until it becomes second nature, reflexive, ingrained.

This is why you need the .357 wheel gun, it's the American Way, the great equalizer, the sidearm gives any American a fighting chance in the breach, that's what America is all about.

I'm confident that I could kill at least 1 man with my hands. 2-3 with a knife or gun, even never having fired one, before their friends took me down. It takes time to bleed out, and you cannot know the level of insanity that the protective instinct inspires.

You don't become a spartan just because you go into an hysterical freak out, quite the opposite, you're just going to get your ass handed to you, and then your kids will be defenseless after you go down.

If you're serious about protecting your kids, you won't let it come to that, you'll bring the equalizer to the fight, so it is at least on level ground with a fighting chance.

If you are going to go so far as to train an attack dog, you go with the Belgian Malinois.

LOL, what?

They jump on average over seven feet into the air. They are a working breed. I am not talking about those fat little piggy dogs the English call bulldogs here.

LMFAO
That's a boxer, unless I'm mistaken. Not a bulldog.

You are mistaken. I have both an American bulldog and a boxer. That's an American bulldog. Here's another one taking care of the aggressive tree branch:

I would second the “individual states authority to more heavily regulate firearms than the feds”. ( with some provisos about transporting through - many of those places like Jersey like to fuck with folks going from Georgia to New Hampshire in a manner I don’t find acceptable)

The 2nd has to stand, the states can't deny the right to bear arms anymore than the feds can, but they can decide what the definition of "arms" is for their state militia, if a state decided that was bolt action rifles only, I don't see anything in the constitution to stop them.

Wtf is grumpy talking about confident kill one with hands... the degree of wrestling has very little confidence for anyone...

I’m confident there would be no hesitation on my part, what happens after that is up to the Almighty.

How the bill of rights was supposed to apply to the states is pretty shaken.

Originally the second amendment was not supposed to be a constraint on the states at all.

Killed a large rodent with a pick axe last summer.
I figured one swift stroke would pretty much cleave it in twain.

... turns out mammals bodies are a bit more resilient than they first appear. Turned into an unpleasant encounter rather quickly.

Moral of the story being - killing isn't as easy as it looks when you envision the process in your mind. The actual execution of the kill can be trickier, messier, and take longer than you expected.
And that's just between big rodent vs a pick axe.

This is why I say it requires conditioning to ingrain it as second nature, that's basically what we do in the military, right? It's all repetition, hit that bayonet range, do it again, watch and shoot target appears, double tap, down, and so on and so forth.
