I remember writing BASIC-programs with my VIC-20 as a kid.

Seldom one writes one's Computer games anymore.

C64 was great improvement.

Heck, back then they could use in an awesome way the 64kt available.

Anybody remember Microprose Gunship? That was awesome at it's time.

The technical quality of older computer games is light-years ahead of anything produced today. Now, they just waste memory resources at will, and write sloppy code.

Check out the 8-Bit Guy on YouTube. He breaks down a lot of old programming and hardware to show how ingenious it was. It's really stunning, when you get into it.

Fast inverse square root. One of those weird programming tricks from back in the day that took a long time for people to understand how it even worked. Of course I have no idea how.

Yeah, those guys were fucking magicians. I love seeing things like this.
SJWs are a natural consequence of corporatism.

I heard the gpu drivers are getting better. I just wish there was a mobile os that works well. Last I looked I didn't see anything encouraging but they were supposed to have been working at it.

That was Android before Google and Samsung and others started fucking it up.

Best thing would be a Linux-based Mobile OS that runs the standard Java runtime and is built off that (maybe with a few tweaks to improve bottlenecks).

The problem with these things is that the manufacturers have HUGE interests in locking the phones down and controlling them as much as possible. Because they build the fucking things, and because these kinds of projects are open sourced to some degree, they just modify it. There's no one Android because of this. There's a set of kernels that are sort of the same, but most of the code gets altered by the manufacturers, and they use that opportunity to take control of the device away from the user.
