Have you still not seen that film about Hitler being transported to our time instead of dying in the fall of Berlin? You'd like that film. I am not sure if they were going for the sympathetic to Hitler vibe, but that's sort of what they got.

It's really an interesting concept. Imagine bringing him here and exposing him to what has happened to us, with Germany on its way to extinction, weak leadership, marxism everywhere. Then imagine that guy with the modern media, the internet, social networks, and youtube or whatever else at his disposal..

Trump's first decisions on Europe:

As the Obama ambassadors are sacked immediately (not just to wait for their successors to be appointed), a lot of places are now without ambassadors. Czechs being excited if they get Ivana Trump to be their US ambassador. At least she qualifies in speaking the native language and being accustomed to the country.

Trump’s first wife, Ivana Trump, has reportedly expressed interest in becoming ambassador for the Czech Republic. According to the New York Times, the president of the Czech Republic, Milos Zeman, expressed his support, saying: "They could not send a better US ambassador to Prague".

Trump team backing NATO and not liking any other options:

Mattis called NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, British Defense Secretary Michael Fallon and Canadian Defense Minister Harjit Sajjan, according to readouts of the calls provided by Navy Capt. Jeff Davis, a Pentagon spokesman. Mattis, in his call to Fallon, “emphasized the United States’ unshakeable commitment to NATO” as well as the close relationship the Pentagon enjoys with the British military.

Guess the British failed missile test (when the test veered off heading to the US) wasn't a subject (as the failed test happened in June). Anyway, Mattis has differed in some respects from Trump's line and obviously isn't eager to appease Russia and basically is on the standard Pentagon line.

Yet Trump's calls for NATO has naturally brought up some old ideas that have been in the back, notably that Europe has to look for it's own defences.

French Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve insisted there is greater need for an EU defence system, because the President-elect called NATO “obsolete.” Mr Cazeneuve insisted on the establishment of a European defence system to replace Washington’s security dependency, which has reigned in Europe for seven decades. At the National Assembly in Paris, he said: “We need European defense, with European means, with European investments, with a European projection capacity that will make the EU, the peoples and the nations that make it up, independent.” Mr Cazeneuve insisted European “principles, its values, and its identity” can be reaffirmed with independence from Washington. His sentiments have been echoed elsewhere in France. Earlier this week, French President Francois Hollande said the EU “has no need for outside advice to tell it what it has to do.” On Monday he said: “I say it here, Europe will always be willing to pursue transatlantic cooperation, but it will determine its path on the basis of its own interests and values.” A European Army has been on the cards for a long time as ministers across the bloc insist they need to protect their interests as a group. In November 2016 a resolution was passed to create such a union.

Yet I think this is just talk as it's extremely unlikely that the US will walk away from NATO. But who knows what Trump will do.

Germans in charge of comedy is almost scarier than Germans in charge of Europe. It's like they were going for an intelligent Adam Sandler movie, still void of comedy, but at least the dumbest parts were taken out.

Haven't read the book though, maybe it's better. The concept is funny at least, but the execution was terrible.
