I'm not arguing that Russia would intentionally fight World War Three, nor that the United States would intentionally fight World War Three, over a Finlandized buffer zone between the Russians and NATO, what I'm saying though, is that there is room for a war to be fought, sub-World War Three, wherein the Russians could prevail and achieve their objectives, economy of force, because the United States and its Western European proxies are not in anyway prepared to fight World War Three, for the Baltic's, Eastern Ukraine, and Transcaucasia.

Moreover, if the Russians continue on their military build up, modernization, and all around improvement, they will be in a position to put a serious whupping on the Baltics, Eastern Ukraine, and Transcaucasia, smash, grab, hold, and brandish the nukes all the way to the bargaining table for a EU negotiated settlement, in the not too distant future.

Poland is a bridge too far, they don't want Poland, Poland is not on the land bridge between Russia and Kaliningrad, and any Polish attack on Kaliningrad is soundly deterred by the Russian hydrogen bombs, Poland would be, either within the nogitiated Finlandized buffer zone, or at the very most, the NATO FLOT at 1st Army Headquarters in Warsaw on the Vistula.

The New Trace could be in Poland instead of the Inner German Border, but it would not be where it is now, right on the Russian border.

Putin doesn't actually have the same thirst to totally expunge the Germanic origins of Kaliningrad as Stalin did, Putin is a Germanophile after all, but Stalin did completely purge it of Germans, so it's more Russian than Russia is at this point, they've rallied around the flag post Crimean Annexation, more vehemently than the Russians in Moscow have, they are after all, the Crimea of the Baltic, even more of a strategic fortress than Crimea is in fact, the Yantar Shipyard alone, the Russians would go all the way to a shooting war over, without hesitation.

Kaliningrad, is to the Russians, is what Norfolk Virginia is to the United States, any direct attack on Kaliningrad, is World War Three on the spot, but even an indirect blockade of Kaliningrad, would bring them storming across Latvia and Co., to defend their lines of communications to and from.

BERLIN (AFP) – A leading member of German right-wing populist party AfD sparked an outcry Wednesday by criticising the Holocaust memorial in Berlin and calling for the country to stop atoning for its Nazi past.

Bjoern Hoecke’s comments also exposed a damaging split in the anti-immigration party, just months before Germany heads to the polls.

“Up to now, our state of mind is still one of a totally defeated people… We Germans, our people, are the only people in the world who have planted a monument of shame in the heart of the capital,” Hoecke told party faithful including youth members, according to a video of the speech circulated online.

"We need nothing less than a 180-degree shift in the politics of remembrance,” he said in the remarks on Tuesday to chants of “Germany, Germany”.

Instead of introducing younger generations to home-grown “internationally-acclaimed philosophers, musicians and ingenious inventors… German history has been made lousy and ridiculous,” he complained, winning a standing ovation from the crowd.

“There is no moral responsibility to make yourself disappear,” said Hoecke, who was a high school sports and history teacher, adding that Germany should instead “build up a positive relationship with our history”.
