Re: Is hockey even a real sport, tho?
In no universe should Canada lose the hockey game either. They should be recalling their athletes from American teams to compete if they have to do so.

Yeah but Komarov is too shit to get that ice time, don't care if he is grinder, he grinds down the Leafs ability to win when he's on the ice that much, it's dumb.Smitty-48 wrote:If I had to guess, he's trying to get them to grind, Komarov is one of his few grinders, he's trying to send the message, if you want ice time, you have to grind, if you're just gonna float around the outside and avoid contact, then Komarov is going to get your ice time.StCapps wrote:The Komarov thing is just weird though, what is Babcock smoking?

Pretty sure Babs is taking the long view, he doesn't think this team is ready to go all the way right now, it's basically another training year, he's doesn't want to lose, winning is part of the training, but it's not about this game or that game, it's about becoming a heavy team that can mix it up with the big dogs, which they just ain't right now, they still need more seasoning, but part of that seasoning, is getting them to grind on a nightly basis.StCapps wrote:Yeah but Komarov is too shit to get that ice time, don't care if he is grinder, he grinds down the Leafs ability to win, it's dumb.Smitty-48 wrote:If I had to guess, he's trying to get them to grind, Komarov is one of his few grinders, he's trying to send the message, if you want ice time, you have to grind, if you're just gonna float around the outside and avoid contact, then Komarov is going to get your ice time.StCapps wrote:The Komarov thing is just weird though, what is Babcock smoking?
The only stick he has is ice time, if you play the way he wants, you get more, if you don't, you get less, until you get the message.

We should totally be keeping the state out of it; just send the "best." If we do *that*, the state will stay out of the games. There's a strong record in support of that argument.

He's getting too cute, play the kids more, bench the deadweight who play the way Babcock wants guys to play. You don't got the horses to teach them to grind by benching the kids, playing Komarov doesn't send the right message, quit the square peg in the round hole shit.Smitty-48 wrote:Pretty sure Babs is taking the long view, he doesn't think this team is ready to go all the way right now, it's basically another training year, he's doesn't want to lose, winning is part of the training, but it's not about this game or that game, it's about becoming a heavy team that can mix it up with the big dogs, which they just ain't right now, they still need more seasoning, but part of that seasoning, is getting them to grind on a nightly basis.StCapps wrote:Yeah but Komarov is too shit to get that ice time, don't care if he is grinder, he grinds down the Leafs ability to win, it's dumb.Smitty-48 wrote:

Was that Komarov who just went in front and screened the point shot for the goal? Seems fine to me.StCapps wrote:He's getting too cute, play the kids more, bench the deadweight who play the way Babcock wants guys to play. He's playing on the fourth line, and he's doing the job, Komarov bashing is bullshit.

He sucks. He isn't going to be part of the team long term, so how does it benefit the long game to play him so much? Not seeing it, experiment a failure, get better Babcock. Stop playing Bozak so much too while you're at it. Play the players who actually need the ice time to develop, not guys who are going to be gone at the end of the year, because they ain't getting resigned.Smitty-48 wrote:Was that Komarov who just went in front and screened the point shot for the goal?
