I think there is a law stating that. Both Ted Cruz and Obama have at least one parent that is an American but Obama was actually born in Hawaii while Cruz was born in Canada.

Well sure, and I'm not arguing that either of those two people should not be or are not American citizens. I just don't think that two illegals should be able to have a kid that is born incidentally in the geographic boundaries of the United States and have that kid become a citizen.Penner wrote:heydaralon wrote:The anchor baby loophole is ridiculous. I believe the term is Jus soli. I'm not a fan of that.

That is literally how my grandparents became natural born citizens. I would take that any day than whatever haphazard system we come up to relace it.

Once again the entire argument is consistently framed from DACA point-of-view, never from the American point of view.
Any of you bleeding hearts ever consider why that is?
Ever ask yourself "Why do I always adopt the non-American viewpoint, and argue merits from that side?"
I suspect not.
I would, however, submit that that forced migration to America (via their illegal parents)was wrong for the DACA kids, and returning non-citizens to their homeland is right for the citizens of the host nation and those who took the pains to immigrate legally.
Thus we're actually looking at wrong + right = rightish.
But you guys never worry about the citizens of America, nor the immigrants who undertook the trials required for legal citizenship, do you?
Of course not. You take your anger out on the windows of the local starbucks with your antifa buddies.

Re: DACA
Where are your ancestors originally from? Personally, I am not a big fan of the comparison of immigrants from the past=immigrants of today argument. I think our country has changed a lot since the Ellis Island days, and we should not be encouraging low skilled, non English speaking people from the Third World to come here. Keep in mind, the United States is in a position (if existing laws were enforced) to get the best legal immigrants in the world. Who are these people to cut in line?Penner wrote:heydaralon wrote:Well sure, and I'm not arguing that either of those two people should not be or are not American citizens. Citizenship inherited in the blood is just as stupid, and involves as much magical thinking, as citizenship granted by soil.heydaralon wrote:Well sure, and I'm not arguing that either of those two people should not be or are not American citizens. Fact is, citizenship is an artifice of human design and we can make it whatever we want it to be. We just have agree on what we want.
