Re: The Deep State
We are supposed to protect whistleblowers. That is the public stance of the Executive. But it just never seems to happen.

We are, but it doesn't work that way. Because the people in power don't want the information released.SuburbanFarmer wrote: Mon Jul 02, 2018 12:15 pm We are supposed to protect whistleblowers. That is the public stance of the Executive. But it just never seems to happen.
The guy that revealed the Tuskegee syphallis got hammered. A recent one that is odd in the age of MeToo is Juanita Broderick who came out decades ago after Bill Clinton raped her. Broderick has been demonized by the press for coming out.

Re: The Deep State
He's not a whistleblower at all.
I still think he did what he felt he had to do, but that's not whistleblowing. Whistleblowing is going to the IG with your concerns. Obviously, the IG is also deep state and doesn't give a flying fuck about the Constitution, so if Snowden wanted to do anything about it, he really had to leak the data.
Unlike Bradley Manning, he didn't leak a shit ton of data he had no idea about. It was selective and meant to expose illegal and unconstitutional behavior by the Deep State.
Of course the Deep State want him dead.
Of course the democrats want him dead.
And of fucking course the neocons want him dead (they are liberals too).

Re: The Deep State
+ Bradley Manning exposed war crimes
- He was held in solitary confinement by the US Govt for 23 hours a day for 11 months, which I personally find to be cruel and unusual
other than that i agree with most of yall, but those two points should be entered in digital stone

Snowden stated that he saw what happened to whistleblowers, maybe even referenced Binney. He made his choice, lives in Russia today.
Technically whistleblowers go through their organizational structure and report wrongdoing. The best recent example of this is Admiral Rogers, who reported the FBI and CIA for FISA court abuses, went to the FISA Court and reported it, it ended up in the OIG investigation. The Obama Admin wanted him fired, bad. But he was smart enough, and competent enough that he dotted all the i's and they couldn't do much with him, that's how you do Whistle blowing right
Admiral Mike Rogers, American Hero

They could have executed Manning for treason. He got a prison cell instead of a firing squad. That's mercy.

I don't see any war crime proceedings in there. You're gonna have to be more specific. What are the war crimes?pineapplemike wrote: Mon Jul 02, 2018 6:07 pmhttp://www.worldcantwait.net/index.php/ ... tting-themOkeefenokee wrote: Mon Jul 02, 2018 5:51 pmWhat war crimes were those?pineapplemike wrote: Mon Jul 02, 2018 4:06 pm + Bradley Manning exposed war crimes
