Re: Best Star Wars Character
Vadar obviously...
The trajectory of Anakin through Vadar is what makes the movie series an epic.
The angst ridden young adult Anakin was the key to making this work.
Anakin had no father.... he was so desperate for one he created C3PO who was ineffectively effeminate...
ObiWan couldn't contain Anakin... and the Jedis were too obsessed with his potential "darkness" to mentor him effectively.
So he was putty in Palpateen's hands.
The self fulfilling prophecy of his fears of losing Amidala were perfectly crafted... it was great work.
Not much chance Disney is going to be able to recreate this.
Not sure where they're going with Ray's character... so far not much has happened... junk trader parents... meh.
The dynamics between her and Kylo Ren... the jury is out on that one... again not super promising.

Except Lucas blew it, first he made Annakin into annoying child star douche who I wanted to see strangled in the crib, then he replaced that douche with a backstreet boy douche, and I couldn't even get through the movie, Ian Mcdairmid was still good, and Natalie Portman is easy on the eyes, but that Annakin Skydouche tho, that was unwatchable.

Fair enough...Smitty-48 wrote:Except Lucas blew it, first he made Annakin into annoying child star douche who I wanted to see strangled in the crib, then he replaced that douche with a backstreet boy douche, and I couldn't even get through the movie, Ian Mcdairmid was still good, and Natalie Portman is easy on the eyes, but that Annakin Skydouche tho, that was unwatchable.
But it was still epic.
Unlike what we have now.

Rogue One came through, gimme some Vader and I'm there, if they could work Natalie Portman in somewhere with muh Vader and Palpatine, that would be optimal, throw me a Boba Fett bone maybe, then it's cha-ching, but I cannot abide, annoying child stars, under any circumstances.
Like back in 1977, Mark Hamill was the shit, but the new kid on the block, was a big flop.

You really think Padme could be made inetresting?Smitty-48 wrote:Rogue One came through, gimme some Vader and I'm there, if they could work Natalie Portman in somewhere with muh Vader and Palpatine, that would be optimal, throw me a Boba Fett bone maybe, then it's cha-ching, but I cannot abide, annoying child stars, under any circumstances.

Hamill really worked on his charisma stats after SW. I felt he was not charismatic enough in ROTJ.

He was never supposed to be charismatic. The opposite, in fact.
That's why he had to go to Yoda for training. Only a bigger asshole could put him on the right track.

I find Natalie Portman to be pretty damn easy on the eyes, Natalie Portman can do whatever, while prancing around in a white leotard, that's interesting enough, in 1977, you're rooting for Mark Hamill to get the girl, get dat putty, Luke, but with the new Skywalker kid, you just want Natalie Portman to flip to the darkside and strangle him with a garrote.Hwen Hoshino wrote:You really think Padme could be made inetresting?Smitty-48 wrote:Rogue One came through, gimme some Vader and I'm there, if they could work Natalie Portman in somewhere with muh Vader and Palpatine, that would be optimal, throw me a Boba Fett bone maybe, then it's cha-ching, but I cannot abide, annoying child stars, under any circumstances.
