What bothers me is that his arguments accept the Marxist claim that the only way capitalism can thrive is if the most desperate portions of the population are exploited for cheap labor.

As a fan of capitalism, I rather reject that notion, and think any one that presents it as an argument in favor of capitalism must not really understand the subject, and ought not be giving lectures. ;)
Maybe his arrow hit a little too close to the mark for your comfort then.
You, as a true "fan of capitalism", are surely aware that America didn't start out with a minimum wage, vacation days, child labor laws, etc. In fact, if we *had* tried to start out that way it would've left countless American families in poverty, several large industries beyond American's reach, and slowed our Industrial development considerably.
Which is pretty much what the guy said.

I'd think a fan of capitalism would've been fine with such mundane observations being aired.

And now that China's economy is growing, her laborers are starting to agitate for better conditions, just like in America, and, just like in America, the force of the state is being used against them.

Capitalism does generate wealth. Does that better than anything. That doesn't automatically lead to improvements in quality of life for citizens with the good fortune of living in a capitalist society.

Or, is noticing that just finger wagging?

Meh, tell it to the laborers who are struggling to make contact with foreign media to escape the restrictions on information in their country.

The graph is cute though.

Indeed.

Is capitalism stopping their laborers from talking to the media?
No?

But you're a fan of capitalism.
Clearly.

The moment somebody attempts to make an economic argument, directly comparing the currency value of wages, in 2 different economies, I tune out.

Feel free to cite what must be an immense trove of documentation detailing how open markets have made life considerably worse for the Chinese.

All you "fans of capitalism" usually have your factoid sheets at the ready.
Laborers are being stifled from talking to the media by capitalism or something.

What else.
Lay the sad song on me.

The Chinese do not have “open markets”, or a free press. If you want their thoughts on the labor market, you can get a clear signal from the suicide nets around Foxconn buildings.

What's the cure for Lefties and their never ending sob stories?

I mean, other than chucking them all out of helicopters that is.

Their dogma cannot be broken.

You can take a nation historically known for mass starvation and make it food secure, then put it on track to being the largest economy in the planet with capitalism ... and they’ll still find a way to convince themselves that it’s a travesty of a system.

They’re like Hale Bopp cultists, rationality and evidence just hold no sway.
