Listened just to two interviews/lectures that Marine general John Kelly gave.
I think he is exactly the kind of person you want to head Homeland Defence. If Mattis is good, so is Kelly.
The first clip is from, above all places, from a human rights summit and Kelly being the keynote speaker. Here he speaks as the commander of the Southern Commander, the general responsible for Latin America. Interesting how and what he speaks of My Lai. And even more interesting is the discussion part in the clip where he talks about his time leading the Marines in Al Anbar province Iraq. A fight that the Marines actually won... if the US wouldn't have left and leave the Shiite idiots in Baghdad to fuck everything up.
In the second clip Kelly here talks more about terrorism, but still his actual message stays the same. Even if the topic isn't human rights, Kelly here also brings them up. And on the War on Drugs, a thing basically that takes center for the Southern Command, he tells about the real reasons: If the US has been successfull in changing habits with "No Smoking" campaings and "Buckle Up when driving", why the incomptence in drug use?
Actually, Kelly is a guy I genuinely would trust an institution like Homeland Defence to. Just like with Mattis, Kelly as a Marine has true integrity and stands for what the United States should has stood for. And a veteran of an insurgency and having commanded SouthCom, he knows what he's up against. And knows some Hollywood bullshit of being "tough" is exactly that, bullshit for ignorant idiots.
