I responded with disbelief. Your desperation is showing.Smitty-48 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 13, 2021 7:40 amthere is infighting in the senior ranks going on up here in Canada
the General's are throwing each under the bus to save their own necks
but you can't say that sort of thing in the military, that's insubordination & sedition on the face
you wouldn't get fired for that, you'd be court martialed for that, sent to the stockade
seems to me that C-mag & Grumpy are not so interested in informing as they in whipping up hysteria
what is this, MHFAnon ? It's just one bullshit clickbait post after the next

"begging" seems to be leftist propaganda
just running America down for its own sake, piling on with leftist America hating glee

Re: Current US Military
I don't pile on America for conducting a strategic withdrawal from Afghanistan
we all knew back in 2001 that the Bushies were tilting at windmills there
we all knew this would be the final result, probably after twenty years or so
I did lose friends in the deserts of Afghanistan
most of all my bosses Frank Mellish & Rick Nolan
Warrant Nolan was killed in the opening engagement, RPG-7 through the window of his G-Wagen
then Warrant Mellish went into the storm, to recover the remains of his best friend Rick
Frank was cut down by the shrapnel of another RPG-7 deflecting off an armoured backhoe
but they were professional soldiers reaching the pinnacle of their profession
and they did their duty as per the Washington Treaty
so I don't see that as defeat, that's mission accomplished
that the misguided war was an ultimate failure, doesn't detract from the valour
there is no call to run the personnel down as "begging", that's not the nature of the withdrawal

No personnel are mentioned, other than official diplomatic communication.
Do you even read stuff, or just share your feels?

Re: Current US Military
I certainly share my feels
now at the end of the war, I look back and feel things about it
for instance, the one that hurts the most, is Corporal Ainsworth Dyer
because he was a kid from my hood, I knew him growing up
he is buried at the cemetery just a block away from where I lived
I was in the honour guard at his funeral, laying him to rest
whenever I go back to the hood, I always go to his grave, just to honour him
he is buried in a beautiful place, pride of place at the Toronto Necropolis in Cabbagetown
and I personally recruited him to the regiment
I personnally trained him as his insructor at recruit depot
he is perhaps my greatest student, the best soldier I ever knew
he was killed at Tarnak Farms, Blue on Blue by a GBU-12 dropped from an F-16
before he deployed, I said to him, you know this is bullshit, right ?
America is in shock after the Towers fell in front of them, they're not thinking straight
he said he just wanted to deploy, this is what he trained for, the politics were irrelevant
after Ainsworth was killed, his father then committed suicide, couldn't bear the grief
that is the sort of thing that comes to mind now, at the end of the war

Re: Current US Military
bear in mind I don't bear any ill will towards that USAF F-16 pilot
I understand what happened there
he saw the signature of an 84mm Carl Gustav Recoilles Rifle
he thought that was a MANPADS being launched at him
so he fired in what he thought was self defense
the Canadians were using Tarnak Farms as a range, they were conducting field live fire in theater
he was never told, he wasn't expecting allied forces to be there, breakdown in communications

Re: Current US Military
Brutal. I don’t understand the desire to ‘just deploy’, but the story is a tragic one indeed.
