My great, great grandfathers and uncles were both on the north and south. They fought with Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson, as well as other generals in their time. One actually shot his foot so he wouldn't have to fight his brother in an upcoming battle at the time. It truly doesn't matter one way or the other who was on what side, but that it happened.C-Mag wrote:Ya know, the funny thing is that I will bet you that there's prominent Dems out there with Grandparents and Great Grandparents involved with erecting these memorials.
Removing statues because they offend someone is like saying that teachers should be punished because they gave a student a bad grade for not doing their homework. Both are idiotic at best.
I really am tired of people saying removing statues will fix this... what happens after it? Who gets removed from where next? Will we be told it's not ok to insult black people because it may hurt their feelings? Will we be told to hire Colin Kaepernick because he's black, never mind that he fucking sucks as a QB never mind a backup?
How about we treat everyone, all the same, if you are stupid you are called out for it. If you are acting like a douche, we call you out for it. If you are a racist bastard and we have real proof (not just name calling) we will call you out for it. IF you are bad at your job, you get shitcanned and we tell you why.
I don't know about the rest of you, but if we treated people like we want to be treated we probably would be better off, but also we would probably be in a situation where we would be almost back to the 1950s and 1960s where we knew where people stood, and we didn't beat around the bush. Also at the same time, we would be having people actually have to be good at their jobs instead of crying every time they fuck themselves over.
