In an editorial published on Monday (2 January) in Le Monde, Emmanuel Macron said he believes German society, led by Chancellor Angela Merkel, “saved” the “collective dignity” of the European people by taking in hundreds of thousands of refugees.

“Chancellor Merkel and German society as a whole lived up to our shared values; they saved our collective dignity by taking in refugees in distress, housing and educating them,” the former minister for economy said.

Fillon is saying Le Pen would lead the country to failure and he's voting for Macron. Le Penn needs his voters to come out for her in droves, so she's boned.

It's going to be close. I think Marine has a hidden vote somewhere like Trump did but it's hard fro me to gauge. Nate Silver said there isn't one so I have hope.

To be fair to Nate Silver, he never said Trump never had a chance. Nate Silver did say that Trump didn't even need a hidden vote to pull off a victory against Clinton, and if he did have one he could easily win. The polls being off by 2 to 3 points isn't anywhere near the same as being off by 26 points, he does have a point.

You're reading the polls wrong. It's +/- 2-3 point gap between them right now. 26% is a majority because they have like six different parties running. The fear is, like has been pointed out, everyone else gangs up on Marine because "fuck you never FN reeee"

The polls Nate Silver is reading are Le Pen head to head with Macron polls. Not today's elections results. Based on the first round results and how the supporters of the other candidates are likely to vote in the second round, it's not a stretch to think Le Pen is a far bigger longshot than Trump ever was. Le Pen pretty much hit the mark she was polling at for first round polling and so did Macron, so to think second round polling for the Le Pen-Macron matchup is off by 26 points or more, that's kind of hard to imagine.
