The TV Police came to my pos flat and demanded to be let in so they could look around. $1000 bucks if they found a TV, or even TV programs on a computer! (Luckily, my laptop was in my backpack.) You think the BBC is free? Silly Americans, Public broadcasting costs big bucks in Britain.

What really pisses me off is when people try to smuggle in printed items and pamphlets without the proper stamps. Parliament passes those laws for a reason!

No, only pay to watch. Until recently you could watch online so long as you waited 24hrs after program was aired but they closed that loophole for BBC programs. As far as I know you can still watch any commercial station online for free legally.

They have no right of access they are not the police.You should have told them to ''sling their hook''.
Only about £240 a year though which is good value for 100 odd channels.
Plus big bonus of no adverts on any of the BBC TV or radio stations.

He said he'd gotten "signal" (!?! From a TV?!?) so if I didn't let him in, they would ASSUME I had a TV and fine me.

That's to pay for things like refuse collection, street lighting and policing.
Again, no address no pay.
