The English actor was born in Derbyshire and became a much-beloved presence in films like Midnight Express, Alien and Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy over the course his career, which spanned six decades.
Hurt bounced back from pancreatic cancer in October 2015 and signed on to appear in a production of The Entertainer, only to pull out on the advice of his doctors.

Is that the same Hurt that played the Wat Doctor in Doctor Who? He was awesome.

He was in Alien, he was in V for Vendetta, he was in Elephant Man, as well as a bunch of other movies.
He was one of my favorite actors, he died way too young, they haven't released how he died, but he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago.

I remember him most fondly as The Storyteller. Loved that show as a kid.
