Crackdowns on immigration or extremist ideology are not the way forward when it comes to terror prevention, according to the veteran journalist, writing after Friday’s terror attack in Stockholm left four people dead.

Instead, it is cars — which she calls “effective murder machines” — that Franchell says “must simply be removed from city centres and places where people gather, if people are to be protected in future”.

Aftonbladet is a heavily left leaning tabloid. Eva Franchell is a writer, journalist and former press secretary of the Social Democrat party. The idea that cities are better without cars is an old leftist goal over here. Make everyone use collective transportation and bicycles to reach utopia for some reason.

...because the auto makers long ago pushed to get rid of trolleys and other mass-transit, bribing the politicians and using propaganda on the masses that you "need" your own car... and no matter how inefficient it is, they've still got the politicians in their pockets because it'd hurt their sales not to?

It's pretty much the same reason the medical/drug/insurance scam is still there... someone is profiting off it and they can afford more politician(s) than you can.

In fact pretty much the answer to just about any "why the fuck are we...?" question is that someone else's "free speech wallet" has a lot more in it than yours does.
