Re: The Era of Biden
again tho, if you are professional soldier, you are paid to fight, not to engage in politics
if you are a Green Beret, one moment you could be fighting with somebody
then they could be your allies next
don't make it personal, just do your job
the situation can change precipitously
case in point, Britain went from being America's mortal enemies to being America's allies
the North Vietnamese went from being America's sworn enemies, to being a bulwark against China

it's not going to shock me when JSOC goes back into Afghanistan
to fight alongside the Taliban against ISIS
just like it's not going to shock me when America flips back to the Sunnis in Iraq to fight Iran
war is not personal, America has no natural enemies, it's all relative

Re: The Era of Biden
look above the theatre level
for better or worse, the power projection is to stave off a thermonuclear war
the hydrogen bombs changed things, there's nowhere to hide
the issue in Afghanistan is simply that they cannot impede America on the high seas
so they don't matter, it's all about maritime power, American power is Seapower
never get out of the boat, it's that simple

Re: The Era of Biden
the most effective way for America to deal with an attack, is blockade
instead of spending a trillion dollars on a twenty year war in the jungle
you just blockade them, or whoever is backing them who needs the sea
that will bring any adversary to their knees, nary a shot fired
Pakistan is not going to try to take the US Navy on, they would turn Bin Laden over before they did that
America's leverage is on the high seas, and that is the most powerful leverage of all
the problem is the Army, always trying to come up with make work to justify their budget

Re: The Era of Biden
even in the War Amongst the States
it wasn't the Army of the Potomac that broke the Confederacy
it was a blockade
it was also the US Navy which kept the British & French at bay
even in the War of Independence, that was won by the French Navy at Yorktown : blockade in the Chesapeake
World War One : blockade
World War Two : blockade
Cuban Missile Crisis : blockade
could have won in Vietnam, if they had just stuck to a blockade on the high seas
could have dealt with Saddam Hussein the same way
just blockade them, and be patient, that's all it takes
how long could Pakistan last against a blockade ?
maybe a month ? This war could have been settled by those means within that time frame

Listen to the state department spokesperson... he's been trained to be a patsy... but fuck, make it less obvious.
