So now we're threatened by a NATO member. How FUBAR can you get?The war of words between Washington and Ankara over the U.S. military’s partnership with Kurdish paramilitaries in Syria escalated Wednesday, when a senior aide to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan suggested American troops could be targeted alongside their Kurdish allies in the country’s ongoing air war against the militias.

Strange, haven't heard about this much today.

Turkey offers a strategic location to die for. Location, location, location.

How does Assad get fresh troops? Or does that even happen? His army must be made entirely of hardened veterans at this point. Pic related are brand new pro-Assad manbij militia, still in training.

Through conscription. Btw, the soldiers in the pic seem to be wearing the Hezbollah armband. I guess you could call them a "militia", but I'd say they'd warrant a label that signifies that they're a bit of more professional than that.TheReal_ND wrote:

Perfectly understandable frustration from Turkey, tbh. Imagine that a NATO ally allied with a terrorist organization that has killed thousands of US troops, and your NATO ally and the terrorist organization were coordinating attacks aimed at undermining critical US interests in a neighbouring country? Say supporting seperatists in Texas who want to return to Mexico.de officiis wrote:So now we're threatened by a NATO member. How FUBAR can you get?
Doesn't mean it's a wise reaction. Or even a sympathetic one. But if the shoe were on the other foot.... who on Earth would tolerate having your own supposed allies working with terrorists committed to carving most of the eastern half of your country away? Erdogan's a tyrant in making, zero doubt about that, but his frustration and anger, feelings shared by alot of Turks... are perfectly sound.
Fame is not flattery. Respect is not agreement.

What does Article 5 have to say about that? If Turkey attacks US troops, does France have to nuke Turkey in retaliation? If the US attacks Turkey, should we be expecting NYC to be nuked by the UK in retaliation??de officiis wrote:http://m.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/ ... ed-kurdis/
