When I was a kid, my brother and I would often take turns doing that, too, when my father stopped for gas. Somehow we never caught on fire, put out an eye or anything like that with it. Tbf, I don't think our country ever had gas station attendents who pumped the gas for customers. Most would consider that, at best, patronizing even if someone was offering it.

It's an anathema to most Americans too. This is why the story is making headlines here. It's really kind of shocking that so many Americans in these two states have become so infantilized when it comes to such a simple task.

Most of America is moving away from service in general. We'd rather pay less and serve ourselves. I am here trying to get rid of waitresses and these faggots in Oregon are trying to do the opposite and make everything based on service and more expensive.
