Mmmm, sexy....

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.

Am going to Canterbury on Tuesday for a British Juggling Convention meeting.
Going to check out the castle while I'm there.

Probably aught to check out the cathedral at the same time.

The Westgate is the largest surviving city gate in England built in around 1379. Contains a museum now.

Well I have to say, Canterbury is disappointing. Lots of nice Tudor buildings in the city centre but you couldn't swing a cat without hitting a tour guide explaining the history of the city to a bored group of school kids. I overheard one talking about a 20 day Viking seige and when she said they eventually broke through the wall and did what Vikings did I was only just able to stop myself saying "settle down and start farming?" I hate to think what this place is like in the summer.
The Cathedral is still trying to screw pilgrims out of their hard earned money. £15 with parking, screw that, I didn't have time to make it worth it and I've never paid to get inside a cathedral before and I'm not starting now.
The gatehouse was impressive but the museum inside was about the prison so didn't go in.
Lots of city wall still intact but the castle was closed due to falling masonry. Pretty small keep in poor condition. I was able to walk around it in a couple of minutes.
If you come to England and want to visit a medieval city go to Norwich or York or some place else. Canterbury is a tourist trap shit hole.
No sign of any Muslim rape gangs though. I'm starting to think they don't exist.

This is the castle overlooking the city where my father grew up in Spain... (Granada)

It's really more of a palace than a castle... but it has castle walls which makes it even more awesome.

The Porta Pinciana, a gate of the Aurelian Walls in Rome. It was built under the Emperor Honorius in the early 5th century, by adapting a previous smaller service entrance. During the Middle Ages a legend told that the Byzantine general Belisarius, who here had defended Rome against the Ostrogoths in the siege of 537-538, had been seen here as a beggar.
