Re: RIP
Why are people still trying to set speed records? This is always how it ends.

Racer and TV personality Jessi Combs, who was called the "fastest woman on four wheels," died in Oregon attempting to break her land speed record, authorities announced Wednesday. She was 39.
Emergency workers responded to a call in the Alvord Desert at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, about 90 miles south of the city of Burns. The caller reported that a jet-powered car had crashed.
Deputies from the Harney County Sheriff's Office identified the driver as Combs. She was pronounced dead at the scene. It's unclear what led to the crash, which is under investigation.

That being said, women and speed are never a good combination.

That's a decent way for a woman to hit the wall like a champion.

Duh, a stupid, pointless stunt led to the crash. It's not like this stuff leads to real engineering advancement the way air and land speed records did in the 1st half of the 20th century. Rocket cars are one step away from wingsuits for guaranteed death.

We are only accustomed to dealing with like twenty online personas at a time so when we only have about ten people some people have to be strawmanned in order to advance our same relative go nowhere nonsense positions. -TheReal_ND

Landspeed records should only recognise speeds gained through wheel driven propulsion. These jet-powered ''cars'' are just planes without wings. It's no surprise at all that they try to take off and end up killing the pilots.brewster wrote: ↑Thu Aug 29, 2019 11:31 am"It's unclear what led to the crash, which is under investigation."

For legal reasons, we are not threatening to destroy U.S. government property with our glorious medieval siege engine. But if we wanted to, we could. But we won’t. But we could.
