They can weather this long slow bleed of purchasing power by investing but if you let loose a wave of inflation in a unpredictable fashion most wouldn't be able to adjust their portfolios fast enough.

What if Trump said he wanted to issue a 10k refund for everyone who earned less than 5 million and paid at least 10k in taxes? Talk about a boost to the economy. There would be new cars and home renovations everywhere. Some smart blokes could pay off CC debt or student loans. Enough for insurance for a year for most.
