"Nordic" was not a thing in America then, they were Scots-Irish, they feared and loathed Catholics, Jews, and Foreigners, and they didn't care if they were white, if you weren't white, you weren't even human, but simply being white was wholly insufficient, Anglo-Saxon Protestant Scots-Irish, or GTFO.

No that's no true. Besides the concept of the countries where immigration was legal ie the Nordic countries and Anglo countries, (both terms well known even back in the early 19th century when people were criticising our immigration policy as being Nordic Supremacist, ) having any other race than White amongst them is laughable. I mean to say it may well be when our laws went into effect the term Nordic was unheard of but by the time the laws came off the books Nordic Supremacy was the slur de jour. It is quite likely as you say more concerned about religion to begin with when the laws went into effect. May have been the motivation behind repealing them as well perhaps.
