1 - A political party that can't even muster a majority vote to change the one issue that they said was the plague of modern times - Obamacare - is going to put together 2/3 of both houses, and change the Constitution single-handedly.
2 - That this would be a good thing.

Great. Maybe now we can form a relevant party or two (or three or four).Speaker to Animals wrote:GrumpyCatFace wrote:Just so we're clear, you think the following:Speaker to Animals wrote:Your buddies are running around with their hair on fire:

For at least the third time: I am saying they are only one state away (something like 26 legislative seats total) from having the power to do so -- not that they will necessarily do it -- and that is indicative of how little power the democrats have.
If the democrats were a national party, there is no fucking chance the GOP would have that power on the table, even if they were unwilling to use it.
The democrats have lost all power outside of a few key states (and even then, their power is only from a handful of cities in those states).
I'm not challenging that. I don't care if the DNC implodes completely. The GOP will splinter into at least 3 parties on it's own, and hopefully we see some Independent parties at last.Speaker to Animals wrote:pineapplemike wrote:Yeah GOP can't even repeal Obamacare, why even waste our breath talking about them amending the constitution
It's a point completely irrelevant to the argument. I don't care if they will do it or not (well, I kind of wish they would, but won't hold my breath). The point is that people were challenging my assertion that the democrats are no longer a national party, and I replied with the fact that the GOP is actually about to control enough states to have that option if they so choose.
They are 8 seats away from a supermajority in the federal government as well.
You can't process those facts and then rationally conclude the democratic party is a national party any longer. Maybe they will regain that status. I sure fucking hope not. But right here and now, they don't have any national influence.
