President Donald Trump has elected to end the CIA’s covert program to arm and train "moderate" Syrian rebels fighting against the government of Bashar al-Assad in Syria according to U.S. officials who spoke to the Washington Post. The program was a central plank of a policy begun by the Obama administration in 2013 to put pressure on Assad to step aside, but even its backers have questioned its efficacy since Russia deployed forces in Syria two years later. Preceding the CIA program was a Pentagon-led effort which was criticized by Foreign Policy for costing $500 million without yielding tangible results.

President Trump has decided to end the CIA’s covert program to arm and train moderate Syrian rebels battling the government of Bashar al-Assad, a move long sought by Russia, according to U.S. officials.

“We are falling into a Russian trap,” said Charles Lister, a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, who focuses on the Syrian resistance. “We are making the moderate resistance more and more vulnerable. . . . We are really cutting them off at the neck.”

Jesus wasn't wrong when he described wealth as a potential curse.

Dr. Drew had some interesting comments once about addiction issues. He felt that the average person has a pretty good chance to get clean if they really want to do it and devote their will to it, but he thinks wealthy addicts are pretty much fucked. They will just go to one of those resort rehabs and never really get clean. But because they are wealthy, they are not likely to want to do what it takes to get through the process.
