War a part of human nature?
Would it even be possible to live without war as a species for any extended length of time? I don't think so, but what about you all?

Territorial Apex Predator Uber Chimpanzee; human nature, related to territory/resources, only limitless territory/resources could significantly alter. Transhumanism plausible, but then; no longer human nature, so; moot.

Violence yes. War after it can live in relative comfort not necessarily.

Look at Chimpanzee "wars" for the explanation of why humans have wars. It is part of being an uberprimateSmitty-48 wrote:Territorial Apex Predator Uber Chimpanzee; human nature, related to territory/resources, only limitless territory/resources could significantly alter. Using history as a guide, absolutely not. Even history aside, no. Even on a biological level, talking about self-preservation, it's essentially guaranteed that in some instance somewhere in the world, self-preservation is only possible through war.

Nope. The very idea of nations is basically a drawing a line in the sand. Humans like line and herding into groups.

I wouldn't say war is a part of human nature as much as survival is a part of human nature. Rationalization regarding survival often ends with a consensus on war, and for one side it's often born out.

Well, I would say war is a consequence of the human proclivity to band together in a group and then demonize an out group. Survival ends up being a mutual illusion, because the reality is that there is enough for all.Okeefenokee wrote:I wouldn't say war is a part of human nature as much as survival is a part of human nature.
