The West is way ahead, imagine if the West was as barbaric as many Islamic nations. By pretending that situation is reversed, you are suppose to notice through observation that he's intentionally mixing them up to emphasize that point in a comedic fashion.Hwen Hoshino wrote:What type of irony was he supposed to convey to me?BjornP wrote:Hwen, are you Korean? It's not even a matter of being ahead. The Islamic civilization would be nowhere particular without the West feeding them science, medicine, and other intellectual gifts.
There really are only two technological civilizations: West and East Asia. Everybody else is along for the ride.

Islam used to be ahead back in the day, they just squandered their lead is all. They didn't learn everything from Western Civilization especially in the realms of science, medicine and mathematics. You don't need to downplay Islam's accomplishments to up-play Western Civilizations accomplishments, we Westerners have enough of those without having to take credit for everything.Speaker to Animals wrote:It's not even a matter of being ahead. Not really. That's somewhat a myth. They were "ahead" only insomuch as they sacked half the western world and enslaved the artisans and academics therein, while the other half had experienced a collapse from mass migration of German peoples (who were largely illiterate and barbaric at the time). They couldn't produce their own artisans or intellectuals to any sustainable degree, so they were always running on a finite supply of intelligence with that one, and what they did accomplish was not really their own accomplishments.
The Muslims were basically slave lords. This why the Reconquista was possible. Most of the people in those regions were still Christians who had to pay the tax (often in the form of their daughters going into rape slavery). They had technology only insofar as they could enslave people who understood the technology. They had mathematics only insomuch as they didn't fuck up and burn the books they captured from the western peoples of Syria, Anatolia, and Egypt.
Islam is basically ISIS. The Turks tried to give Islam a boost, but they didn't have any concept of freedom of thought either. The Sultan murdered scientists on several occasions, and promulgated "Islamic sciences" instead.
The idea that Islam was ever some viable civilization is a fucking joke. This entire religion is a military cult that was made-up by a bandit in the Saudi Arabian peninsula.
The ability for Islam to enslave enough intelligent people who would help them take over the world died when Sobieski smashed into the Turkish flank at Vienna in 1683. Even today, their pathetic attempt to capitalize on marxists in Europe to colonize the place is going to backfire. They are going to get packed up and sent home at some point.

If the advances happened under their rule, then they get credit. Just because they conquered Western territory doesn't mean the West deserves the credit and Islam should get none.Speaker to Animals wrote:Not really. That's somewhat a myth. What nonsense, The Roman economy was built on enslaving people too, but you don't take away all of their accomplishments just because they stole many of the ideas and technology of those they enslaved. Quibbling about how they did something doesn't take away from what they actually did.

LOL.
No. They captured the advances, and those advances only had a shelf life since they had no idea how to duplicate it themselves. These people were bandits, dude. They were more interested in buying and selling the latest Christian slaves and raping the Christian women they kidnapped via the jizyah.
ISIS, for example, captured a lot of armor and artillery they used to some effect. That doesn't mean they understand how to build tanks, dude. They are embarrassments to humanity.

They also invented their own advances and didn't just steal them. These are facts, pretending otherwise is a myth.Speaker to Animals wrote:LOL.

Compare the Arab and Turkish people to the Germanic people. Both groups were barbarians around the same period. Both captured significant chunks of the western world. But German peoples from Germany to France and England ended up becoming civilized. They invented modern science. They eventually cured diseases and put human beings on the Moon.
The Arabs and Turks.. lulz.

I am sure you can name a few things they invented. I am sure they had some great sex slave restraints or whatever, but in the big picture, if there were no western or eastern civilizations, humanity would still be pre-antiquity. The Arab and Turkish people feed off of civilization, they don't create it. Never did. Probably never will. Hopefully we will eventually leave Earth and them behind and start over somewhere else.
