I saw all the other messages also, even the ones in Greek and Hebrew. I still know that USN "eye-doctor" back in '83 had it out for me when he told me during my two-day physical for the Academy that I would never be allowed to fly a plane, much less a lander.

Honestly if you want to have a diesel electric hybrid you should follow the example of ships and locomotives. The diesel motor is used for generating electricity that turns the wheels of the train or the screws of the ship. This allows the diesel motor to be run at its most efficient RPMs instead of adjusted by the throttle use. That's what the Chevy Volt uses as a backup for when you've depleted the battery.
