Re: Urban vs. Rural; What's to be done?
Currently looking for options to fence in my acres.
I need to contain my chickens because the neighbors wife doesn’t like them. Eventually, cows as well.
It’d be nice to have something that deters humans, but that’s much harder.

It’s a former cornfield, not difficult at all - loamy and soft. Vast improvement over my old clay-packed lot.C-Mag wrote: ↑Mon Oct 02, 2023 9:25 amYeah, physical barriers matter. Any advice welcome. I don’t even know where to start, I just know I don’t want barbed wire. Kind of a nice area here.

Steel T posts are east to drive by hand, no equipment required. Then a good quality mesh wire, min 5 ft tall.

Thinking more like wooden posts, to make it look nicer. I had T-posts fall apart on me in a few years at the old place.
Might need to rent an auger or something.
I like this guys video though. Good production.

I like wood too, I was thinking about limited equipment.
They make skidsterrs that either auger or drive posts pretty fast.
In your soils id drive the posts.
For my property I'm putting in six foot privacy fence on the road side to

Oof that sounds expensive.
I’ve planted about 30 trees on each side of the property, but the ‘privacy’ part is gonna take a while.
