because I know what I'm taking about
I can't say that that is not true. I have relied upon your insights for a long time now.
I am truly curious as to how this all plays out.
I'm simply saying that I know international law & the laws of armed conflict
professionally, as part of my previous career
it's not like what the Russians are doing is covert, or even subtle
they have declared war on us, and they are the aggressors
their claims of provocation are not justifications for their actions, even if they were provoked

Huh? " their claims of provocation are not justifications for their actions, even if they were provoked"
I'd like to hear the legal arguments of that. I just saw a dude get off for shooting another dude in the heart for throwing their bag of popcorn in their face. So I am not sure if you are in the position to declare legality of actions that you are claiming right now.

The only option left to the Russians now is to do what they did in Chechnya and Syria. Indiscriminate terror against the civilian population.
In Syria the Doctors without borders had to take down their list of clinics when they discovered the Russian air force used it as a target list. Shit like that. They turned Groznyj into a pile of rubble. Then Spec Ops went in and got the president so they could put in their puppet.
They will not be able to do that either right now. Just locally to some cities under siege. Not the entire country and not to Kiev. Kiev is to big. They don't even have troops enough to encircle it.
The also don't have Aerial supremacy. That is surprising.

I have been thinking about their air force and it occurred to me that they have always procured platforms and developed their military in such a way so as to counter NATO generally and the United States specifically. That means they have really good air defenses but they never really bothered to develop much in the way of air interdiction. They also never really hoped to achieve air dominance against us. They only needed to be able to stop our tankers.
I don't think they have the kinds of capabilities that we have. It's not even just that they failed to achieve air dominance. They can't seem to really do anything about all the small arms units that harass that pinned convoy. Between US Army gunships and USAF, we can use air power to target pretty much everything down to dogs and rabbits.
If you only build your military to counter NATO, then you don't have capabilities to conduct any other kind of serious war.
I am truly shocked at their lack of capabilities.
What in the ever fuck is our next NDAA debate going to sound like?? What are we spending all this money for?
