on exercise, we were usually Orange Force

Canadians with aging equipment

so we best simulated the Soviets

on open ground, we stood no chance

the Canadian doctrine was to pull back into the towns and fight street to street

otherwise Whispering Death just rolled over us with ease on the open fields

the Soviets were like Canadians

they were masters of urban warfare

and this is Soviet troops going head to head now

Russian Soviet v. Ukrainian Soviet

in giant Stalingrad's now, one big Stalingrad after the next,

this could really turn into a meat grinder like not seen since the Second World War

it's like in Chechnya

Grozny

as the casualties mount ?

it will become unstoppable

that is what happened in the First World War

as the casualties became catastrophic

the people stopped trying to stop the war

the mothers & widows started demanding vengeance

and that is when it went to the Somme & Verdun

eventually the First World War reached its zenith

Messines Ridge

in this day & age now

that would be the threshold of tactical nuclear weapons being employed

the giant mines that the British tunneled under the Germans and then detonated

that was the birth of nuclear weapons right there

where they started reaching for some sort of super bomb which could end a war in one day

mind you

you could say that the first attempt ever

the first attempt to make a tactical super bomb ?

was in the American Civil War

Petersburg Virginia

Battle of the Crater

30 July 1864

following that track

you might argue that Guy Fawkes trying to blow the government up with gunpowder

was the first attempt at a strategic super bomb

because of the jet engine, it's very quiet

but really the problem was that they had the far more advanced sensors and fire control

so they could see us, but we couldn't see them

same problem for the Russians
Stabilized firing on a tank moving on terrain is revolutionary in ground warfare. Has the same impact as it did in naval warfare, it greatly extends your effective range and accuracy.

It was amazing moving and firing with a Bradley, putting steel right on target.

And I'll tell you this, a Bradley can take down a T-72. The best way is HE, 200 rounds a minute, burn that fucker to the ground while they are trying to get a bead on you.
