there are Ukrainian civilians saying they will fight to defend Kiev

so I would say the Ukrainians just assumed that the Russians were bluffing

now they are caught by surprise

and they don't actually have any forces in position to defend Kiev

who have been getting bombarded by the Ukrainian army for 8 years now

but they don't matter, because those are "Russian" civilians, who are bad

so the American media can't report anything straight

it has to be a good guys vs bad guys simplistic narrative, always with America on the good guy side

it's not reporting, they turn everything into a soap opera
Wife and I were just talking about this tonight. We don't know a single of age adult who we would grant the right to vote if we had any say. People who only know things from the Corporate Media don't know anything at all, if not worse. 2 questions is all it would typically take to get to the majority of peoples' depth of knowledge on most current events.

mind you, the Canadian media has actually blown past the American media in the race to the bottom now

CBC, CTV & Global are Orwellian the literal sense

not only biased in favour of the government

not only paid liars for the government

but they are actually agents of the government who operate like the KGB

The first casualty of War is Truth. There is so much fake news about, but we might as well pass along what we hear so we have something to talk about.

UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace came om SKY news.

https://news.sky.com/story/russia-invad ... v-12541713
Russia has failed in its major objectives and lost over 450 troops, says defence secretary

Defence Secretary Ben Wallace has painted a picture of Russian failure to meet its main objectives on day one of fighting.

Speaking to Sky News, he said the UK's intelligence suggests Russia is "behind its hoped-for timetable" and the Russian army "has failed on day one to deliver its main objective".

More than 450 Russian troops have been killed so far, he said.

While it remains the UK's view that Russia intends to invade the whole of Ukraine, Mr Wallace said the Ukrainians have put up more of a fight than the Russians were expecting.

Russia had also failed to take a significant airport, he said.

Ukraine "has a lot of fight in it" and "President Putin is not getting it the way he wishes it", he added.

As for any war crimes have been committed, Mr Wallace said there has certainly been a breach of international law but he did not go further.

However, he said Russian commanders would be held responsible if they commit war crimes and "we will pursue them no matter what happens in Ukraine".

Let's not forget that one of the only things Obama achieved as a Senator was the disarming of Ukraine.

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/w ... fenseless/
As a U.S. senator, Barack Obama won $48 million in federal funding to help Ukraine destroy thousands of tons of guns and ammunition – weapons which are now unavailable to the Ukrainian army as it faces down Russian President Vladimir Putin during his invasion of Crimea. In August 2005, just seven months after his swearing-in, Obama traveled to Donetsk in Eastern Ukraine with then-Indiana Republican Senator Dick Lugar, touring a conventional weapons site. The two met in Kiev with President Victor Yushchenko, making the case that an existing Cooperative Threat Reduction Program covering the destruction of nuclear weapons should be expanded to include artillery, small arms, anti-aircraft weapons, and conventional ammunition of all kinds. After a stopover in London, the senators returned to Washington and declared that the U.S. should devote funds to speed up the destruction of more than 400,000 small arms, 1,000 anti-aircraft missiles, and more than 15,000 tons of ammunition.
That was one of the reasons he got the Nobel Peace Prize. Thanks Obama!

There is reportedly a Ukrainian MIG 29 pilot who has taken out 6 Russian jets in air to air combat. He is being called the "Ghost of Kyiv".

Cool if true.

not that it's a totally implausible claim

but for an operation of this scale, the Russians are obviously prepared to take significant casualties

and it seems a little early to be saying they have "failed", it's only been two days in what is a very large war

they project on to the Russians what western politicians worry about, as if the Russians worry about those things

but if Putin cared about polls, or international law, or any of that shit, he wouldn't be doing what he's doing

like Ben Wallace would have tried to fight the Second World War by simply repeating that "Hitler is unpopular !"

but that wouldn't have stopped the Germans

all these useless fucks do is pander to their media sycophants, while never taking any decisive nor effective action

Putin is not scared of your media

Putin is not scared of getting arrested

Putin is not scared of sanctions

what else you got, NATO paper tigers ?

Odessa was not taken by marines. That was apparently just a rumor.
