So the lay of the land looks thus:

Russian forces are deploying from Belarus to the north of Kiev.

Meanwhile, The Crimean and Donetsk Republics are held by the Russians.

Most of the fighting is in the south, but Chernobyl has been captured and its staff is being held hostage.

Ukraine is trying to form an international anti-Putin coalition.

Xi probably isn't going to play nice.

So Putin has invaded, I just hope my second prediction is wrong but I don’t think it is. I wouldn’t want to be in the Ukraine or Taiwan right now.

Putin either needs to get serious or resign. If he screws this up, his support is gone.

Against the Ukrainians, if they choose to go down fighting. They've already lost some helicopters, and Ukraine have lots of manpads around. Not too many weeks of fighting like this, and they'll get bogged down. And when they've lost their mobility, it's back to trench warfare and artillery strikes, which Ukraine has a lot of experience dealing with since 2014.

If they turn their cities into entrenched fighting positions, it could very well turn into another Grozny for the russkies, IF Ukraine chooses. A massive blood bath, but it's the best bet to negate the advantages of Russia.

My SWAG is that Putin doesn't want all of Ukraine. His speech clearly laid out he wants Russian Ethnic Ukraine. Also, I think he wants to disrupt US Control of the corrupt Ukraine government, maybe the most important part.

If he stops now he can claim X, Y and Z were threats to Russia and he had to deal with them.

Maybe. However I think Putin is going to go for it. He wants to be a historical figure and a Russian hero for the ages. He’s not getting any younger (69) and he knows that this is the best chance that he’ll ever get. China has his back and the USA has a Potato as president.
